Why do we specialise in Automotive communications systems?

The simple answer is, we don’t.

We specialise in communications systems and technology solutions for all industries, it just so happens that we have way too much experience in the automotive industry to not shout about it!

From our Directors to our Engineers and Back Office colleagues, we’ve been providing communications solutions, cabling systems and engineering expertise to the automotive and transport industry for over 20 years.  As individuals in Litenet we have all got experience in providing services to many of the different parts of the automotive industry, it gives us a unique understanding of the drivers (was that a pun?) and decision making processes behind their technology choices.  It helps that we have a keen interest in cars and motorsport too.

In actual fact, cabling a Formula 1 factory isn’t so different to cabling any other factory building.  Providing a VoIP solution to a dealership is remarkably similar to providing a VoIP solution to a firm of estate agents.  Putting in a WiFi network with point-to-point bridges between buildings for a global prestige brand is no different to doing it between a house and a garden shed.  The scales are different, but the principles we work to remain the same.  A professional job, completed with pride.

The differences between automotive and any other industry are there though.  Dealerships are public spaces, there are customers everywhere, whether they’re browsing for a new motor, or using the guest WiFi to work while their cars is being serviced.  Motorsport teams are notoriously secretive, and rightly so.  They have to protect any technical advantage they might have over other teams and that means keeping things under wraps.  Service areas and workshops are busy places, with vehicles moving about at all times, heavy lifting equipment and many health, safety and environmental considerations.

Driving a scissor lift around a dealership with millions of pounds worth of vehicles beneath you is not for the faint hearted. Working out of hours to get cabling in during the Formula One summer break takes a lot of manpower and dedication.  Any work in the automotive industry requires efficiency, in terms of both time and money.

These are the things we understand.  These are the things that set us apart from any other telecoms companies out there.  These are the things that make the automotive industry different to many others.

We apply this knowledge and experience to every other industry we work in.  It provides us with a culture of excellence in everything we do.

So, are we specialists in the automotive industry? Yes.  Do we love supplying to the automotive industry?  Yes.  Are we limited to the automotive industry?  No, any company can benefit from Litenet, regardless of which industry you work in.
